Privacy & cookies
Bluestars is designed to be privacy-friendly and easy to clear with your compliance team.
Cookies: none
Section titled “Cookies: none”The embedded widget sets zero cookies. It uses sessionStorage only — for
example to remember the resolved BSR segment and the
visitor’s chosen display mode for the
current tab. sessionStorage is cleared when the tab closes and is never sent to a
server automatically the way a cookie is.
Segmentation data
Section titled “Segmentation data”The BSR segment is derived from the visitor’s approximate location (IP → postcode area → segment). Bluestars does not build a cross-site profile of the visitor; the segment is resolved per session for personalization on your site.
Consent
Section titled “Consent”Analytics reporting is consent-gated:
- The
bluestars_bsr_segmentevent only fires when analytics consent is granted — via Google Consent Mode (analytics_storage) or your site’s consent hook. - If your tenant has analytics disabled, no analytics event is sent at all.
Personalization itself (the segment class, content swapping, and the assistant) runs without setting cookies, but you should still describe Bluestars in your privacy statement as part of your site’s functionality. If you need a data-processing summary for your DPA, contact us.
